I'd say it's about time for another Insta-Update, because Lord knows nobody wants to read a detailed description of everything my Hubs and I have been up to since I last wrote. Nobody but my grandma, that is. Bless her heart for loving us so much. :)
Before I post a bunch of pictures that probably entertain Lance and I more than anyone else, I just want to say that I am so grateful for this life the Lord has blessed me with. Everyday I wake up to the sweet, sleepy voice of my husband softly saying, "Morning, babe", I go into a job that allows me to minister directly to families and children in all kinds of situations, and I have the blessing of furthering my education to hopefully impact a lot of families in a more intimate way than I ever have before. All of these blessings come directly from my Maker, and I cannot praise Him or thank Him enough for the love He has lavished on me. I pray I honor Him daily in my actions, and that my life would be pleasing to Him. Glory to our God!
And now.... an Insta-Update straight from the Gibson household!
Fall Has Shown Its Face
|Thanks to Pinterest, I made this wreath at the beginning of the season. I absolutely l-o-v-e it and can't wait to replace it with a similar Christmas wreath.|
The Fall decor is out in full swing at the Gibson household! Growing up, my mom always decorated out house beautifully during this time of the year and her love for this season ingrained a deep love in my own heart for the beautiful colors and cool weather this season brings. Needles to say, I was absolutely ecstatic when it sunk in that this year I would have my own home to decorate for this beautiful season. Above are some snapshots of the decor currently gracing our home.
Shootin Skeet & Enjoyin the Weather
My Hubs bought himself a shotgun last month and has hardly thought about anything else since then. We both really enjoy spending time outdoors with friends and family shooting skeet and targets, so buying this gun was kind of a treat for both of us. Last week we took the ol' Mossberg out to some land in the country with Lance's dad, cousins, and uncle and had ourselves a good ol' time. The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful, and we really enjoyed some quality time with our family. It was a blast!
Family Church Time
Every night before we go to bed, My Hubs and I spend time together refreshing our spirit in the Word. So far, we've read through the books of John, Acts, and Genesis, and we are currently reading through Ezekiel. This time together is such a treasure to me. For one things, I learn all sorts of new things as we read the Word and discuss our reading together. I'm learning not only from what we read directly, but also from the wisdom of husband, and I am so thankful for this opportunity to grow with him. I am so thankful for a Husband who leads me spiritually and who longs to see my relationship with the Lord deepen.
I am still going strong with my little Kids Hope Mentee, Jaime. The time I get to spend investing in him is such a blessing, and I have such a blast doing it! Jaime is one of the sweetest, most gentle little boys I have ever met with a deep love for soccer and good ol gas station taquito... How could you not love him?! Lance has recently started coming along with me on Fridays, and his influence on Jaime has already been evident, even though their time together has been short. Please continue to pray for me as I grow closer to Jaime and his family!
Take Me Out To the Ballgame
Hubs and I are the newest teammates on one of our church's softball teams! It has been SO fun so far, even though the score of our first game was 23-5, not in our favor. Playing on the church softball team has provided us with a unique opportunity to get to know the people we worship with every Sunday, but have never had the opportunity to meet due to the fact that we both work on Sundays and Wednesdays. The shot above is from a"practice" we held today with some friends, just playing a pick-up game of softball. The weather was perfect and the company was great!
Cozy Nights By Candle Light
A couple of weekends ago, the Lord blessed us with some true Fall weather and gave us temps in the 50's as highs for the daytime! Lance and I decided to take full advantage of this weather by whipping up lots of hot chocolate, lighting all of our "holiday" scented candles, busting out a 750 piece puzzle we got as a wedding gift, and watching first a Christmas movie and then about 5 episodes of 30 Rock. It was so nice to just stay in, cuddle up, and take it easy. Love those lazy nights with my man. :)
Halloween 2012. . . Ole!
Oh yes... We absolutely DID dress up as tacos for Halloween this year! The tacos have been our most popular costume to date, and it was a ton of fun seeing people's reactions to two goobers dressed up as tacos with big ol sombreros and mustaches (those didn't last very long). Lance didn't put those maracas down all night and danced his little taco booty off, despite the fact that the temps were in the high 80's and we were sweating up a storm. Our church hosts an event called Trunk or Treat each year on Halloween and usually passes out candy to at least 1800 members of the community as the night passes. It is a huge outreach opportunity and I pray that the Lord moved in people's hearts through our actions, even on Halloween!
Happy Fall, my friends! Enjoy your week!
